Summary of “The Sin Bin or Lucy’s Heart” by Lucy CrossThe story is about a girl named Lucy Cooke, who’s sitting in detention at her school. She’s normallya grade A student, but now she’s sitting in detention and drawing, together with an ugly boy and ateacher called Mr. Paterson.Mr. Paterson asks her why she’s in detention, and she tells him that she has hit a girl named PennyJones. Mr. Paterson acts like he’s shocked and asks if it’s because of her friend, Bethan Preece, butLucy’s tells him that it’s not. But it is - it’s all because of Bethan.Before Lucy and Bethan became friends, Lucy was one of the brainiest girls at her school. Sheenjoyed doing her homework and getting good grades, and she and Penny were friends. Now,even though her grades are still good, she’s hanging out with Bethan who’s one of the toughestgirls at her school. She’s obviously not friends with Penny anymore because she hit her and ofcourse it was Bethan, who made her do it as a test to prove Lucy's loyalty. Lucy knows this, butshe's somehow too afraid to do something about it.The main problem is that Bethan’s very influential on Lucy.
