Aldrig så snart har Jack McCracken overtaget sin svigerfars plads som administrerende direktør for et mindre familiefirma, før han får mistanke om, at alt ikke er, som det burde være. Virksomheden har ikke klaret sig alt for godt i den sidste tid, og det er der gode grunde til: det viser sig, at praktisk talt alle familiemedlemmer har travlt med at
tappe firmaet for så mange penge som muligt. Det gælder dog ikke Jacks kone Nancy, men selv hun er ikke uimodtagelig for fristelser. Som Jennifer siger: Alle stjæler.
Jack, som er hæderligheden selv, er dybt chokeret, men han prøver alligevel at dække over familiens kriminelle handlinger. Inden stykket er færdigt, er hele familien involveret i lyssky transaktioner, der er langt værre end dem, Jack misbilligede så stærkt.
