5-paragraph structure: Examples:Introduction, which contains:-Presentation of the text and its theme (s)-The focus of your analysis (your essay) The short story, "Tell Me" by Zoe Sharp is a modern crime fiction story with a surprise plot twist, which makes the reader doubt everything we have been customs in the story.This essay will focus on the narrative perspective and how the short story breaks genre conventions.1st main paragraph, which contains:-"topic sentence"-"example sentence" (quote from text)-"explanatory/elaborative sentence" There are two main characters in the story; Grace McCall who is a crime scene investigator, and the nameless girl who's the victim of the crime Grace is trying to solve. The reader gets to know them both through their conversation about what has happened to the girl.2nd main paragraph, which contains:-"topic sentence"-"example sentence" (quote from text)-"explanatory/elaborative sentence" The short story presents everything that happens through the third person limited perspective and we only get Grace McCall's point of view. The effect of this is that the reader only has access to Grace's thoughts and feelings and we are excluded from any further information about what is going on around Grace. It is stated that "The girl lay on the steam steps, arms wrapped across the body, here in the position they'd first found here" (p. 53, ll. 35-36). This means that we are led two trust Grace's version of the events two such a degree that we never suspect the girl she's talking with is actually dead. After this revelation, however, we realise the brilliance with which Zoe Sharp has left clues for us right from the start when we first get introduced to the girl who "was on the stone steps in front of the band shelter, no more than sixteen years old but still a child [she hate] here arms folded as though hugging herself against the cold" (p. 49 , ll. 12-16).3rd main paragraph, which contains:-"topic sentence"-"example sentence" (quote from text)-"explanatory/elaborative sentence" Besides the unconventional plot twist in "Tell Me", the story breaks second typical crime fiction features, such as the very important expectation that the crime will be solved and the criminal caught in the end.Conclusion, which contains:-A collection of your analysis/your overall focus. Zoe sharp's unconventional crime story "Tell Me" plays on the reader's expectations to the effect that the victim becomes the central element of interest in the story.
