Mellem punkterne hård uretfærdighed og nødvendig disciplin eksisterer der en lykkelig mellemting, hvor disciplin,uanset hvor hård den er, er retfærdig, og hvor brølere ikke bliver tolereret. Opnåelsen af denne mellemting afhænger i mindre grad af at uddanne og at lægge bånd på ledere, end af at en medarbejder kender sine rettigheder og selv bruger dem. Dette er svært at få nogen til at forstå, fordi en overordnet somme tider kan sige: "Dette policy gælder ikke i dette tilfælde" eller: "Hvis du rapporterer dette, så ryger dit hoved...", eller: "Jeg er ligeglad med, hvad dine rettigheder er, du er afskediget!"
