The narrator represents most of the children back then, when he, as I wrote about before, was brainwashed by his parents into believing that the blacks are dirty and violent, which is incorrect. A quote from the detective shows that his parents do not like colored people (line 42-44 "'We knew nothing about our black neighbours other than the cruel jokes our parents told and the occasional spasms of regret we'd see on the local news" parents tell their children that they are not good people without knowing themselves. So you can say they're judging a book by its cover, at first you also see telling him to be scared when he discovers he's in a movie with only colored, but the narrator finds that the colored are actually a lot more fun to be with than white (line 67-69)"We'd never see kids behave like this before, at least not with impunity. Where we came from you sat quietly through movies. You could laugh at the jokes, sure, but that was it. What you didn't do was show these sorts of emotions. Even if you felt them."so the narrator's view of the colored has changed since he finds out they're fun to be with and they're not like everyone else says they are.<br>
