Man vil have en god struktur, fordi man selv kan bestemme, hvordan noterne skal placeres. Det giver også de studerene mulighed for at finde frem til det dokument de skal bruge, relativt hurtigt. Hvis der er bestemte begreber man gerne vil finde, så har man mulighederne for at søge i noterne på computeren, hvilket man ikke har i de håndskrevne noter.
Det går meget hurtigere at skrive noter på computeren end i hånden.
