Jeremy havde altid været fascineret af naturen. For ham var friheden at være ved en å med en fiskestang i hånden uden telefoner og e-mails. Efter hans mening var det en stor fejl, at samfundet ikke beskyttede dyrene, planterne, luften og landskabet bedre. Han var søn af en landmand, og da han var dreng, var de fleste åer fulde af fisk, og der var mange forskellige dyr på markerne. Første gang han var i Irland havde han set sammen billeder
